He added that currently Ukraine increases expenses for the security and defense sector and actively works on enhancing the defense capabilities with the international partners.
“The advent of peace in Ukraine does not mean that we stop to take care of our own army. Instead, today we focus on the maximum development of the Ukrainian army…Ukraine should have not only powerful ground forces but modern and capable aviation, naval forces, air defense systems and many others. Only strong forces will be key for the further peace and free development of our indestructible Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
The president underlined that army is impossible without the defenders of Ukraine.
“We assume efforts to enable each person who serves for Ukraine how she/he is important for the state. The decent provision of aid for them, for our defenders and their families, is the number one priority for us…Wish you and your families good health! Always return alive. Glory to Ukrainian defenders! Glory to Ukraine!”, Zelensky said.
On October 14, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Defender of Ukraine. It is the day for honoring of courage and heroism of the defenders of the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. It is a holiday since 2015. Moreover, the holiday coincides with the Day of Ukrainian Cossacks and the Holy Protection.
