Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainians and Russians were not one people. The president stated this in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

According to him, the two peoples have a common part of history, memory, neighborhood, common victory over fascism and common tragedies, but "Ukrainians and Russians are definitely not the same people."

"Let's finally dot the i's. We are definitely not one people," Zelensky said.

According to him, "if Ukrainians and Russians were one people, then hryvnia, most likely, would circulate in Moscow, and a yellow-blue flag would fly over the State Duma."

He admitted that in the future there may be something else in common between the countries, "if it is not too late to stop the total separation between the countries."

"We really should have one goal - to end the war in Donbas, to return its territories to Ukraine. And one more thing - it is impossible to simultaneously talk about "one people" and openly seize our territories and continue the massacre in Donbas. This is obvious." Zelensky said.
