“It will be the first bilateral summit of the EU with a partner country that will be held in Brussels in the traditional "live" format since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ukrainian delegation to the summit will be headed by President Volodymyr Zelensyy, the EU delegation will be headed by President of the European Council Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen,” the message said.
The leaders will discuss the priority issues of the relations of Ukraine and the EU, particularly, the further steps on the implementation of the Association Agreement, deepening of the sectoral integration between Ukraine and the EU, cooperation in the context of the overcoming the consequences of Covid-19 pandemic and further support of the reforms in Ukraine by the EU. The particular attention will be paid to the situation with the security in the temporarily uncontrolled territories of Donbas and discussion of the ways of strengthening the cooperation of Ukraine and EU for the de-occupation of Crimea and protection of the rights of the citizens of Crimea.
“On the sidelines of the summit, it is planned to sign a number of financial agreements between Ukraine and the EU within the European Neighborhood Instrument, particularly, to support eastern Ukraine, civil society and climate change mitigation,” the message said.
Besides, it is planned to sign the agreements with the European Investment Bank that provide the involvement of the financing for the development of the energy efficiency of the public buildings and modernization and digitalization of Ukrposhta (Ukrainian Postal Service).
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the meeting of the advisers of the leaders of the Normandy Format will take place soon and in case of the productive negotiations, the meeting of the leaders will take place.
