President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed two laws - 'On Foundations of National Resistance' and 'On the Number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine' during the events dedicated to the Day of Special Operations Forces (SOF) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Zhytomyr region, as President's press service reports.
"These laws are directly related to the SOF, which receive leverage for the development of the resistance movement, will be able to replenish their ranks with new specialists and further increase their contribution to strengthening the defense capability of our state. I am happy to sign them, these two important laws for us, for Ukraine, for our heroic army right here, on this important day, on your professional day," Zelensky said.
Zelensky noted that the creation of a system of national resistance in Ukraine is a powerful signal to everyone that our country will defend itself and will not allow the events of 2014.
In addition, he said that the laws provide for a set of important measures aimed at the development of territorial defense and resistance.
"It allows, if necessary, to involve the entire population of Ukraine in the protection of our native land, families, and to unite all Ukrainians around these important, priority ideas," the president added noting that national resistance measures will be carried out as on Ukrainian territories, as well as on non-government-controlled and temporarily occupied territories.
As it was reported earlier, on May 25, Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada draft laws on the foundations of national resistance and on increasing the number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in connection with the adoption of the On the Foundations of National Resistance Law as urgent.
