The law provides the new type of parental leave – one-time leave at the birth of a child for up to 14 days paid by the employer. It is noted that such parental leave will be provided to one person:
- a man, whose wife born a child;
- father of a child if he is not married with a mother if a child but they live together; grandmother or grandfather;
- other full-aged relatives of a child who take care of the baby.
The law also determines parental leave until a child reaches the age of three as the equal right of each parent.
Besides, it is established that the employees of both genders who have children or full-aged children with disabilities have a right for extra vacation.
This law also allows to create conditions for enhancing of a role of a father in the education of children and development of responsible fatherhood in Ukraine. The document aims to provide equal possibilities for men and women concerning the combination of work and family duties.
