President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on increasing doctors' salaries. The document sets minimum pay for medical staff and doctors. Zelensky signed the relevant decree during the congratulations on Doctor’s Day.
"We must find new mechanisms and new resources until the amount of doctors' salaries becomes fair. And one of the steps to achieve this goal will be a decree signed by me today, now, I think, an important decree of the President of Ukraine," Zelensky said.
Zelensky explained that the decree sets a benchmark for the minimum pay: at least about $500 for paramedics and at least $735 for doctors.
As it was reported earlier, the Committee on Health of the Nation, Medical Care and Health Insurance considered the On the Medical Commissioner draft law № 5475 and recommended the Verkhovna Rada to support this document in the first reading. The draft law proposes the creation and settlement of the legal status of the Commissioner for Medical Affairs as a new subject of state control over the implementation of the rights of patients and medical workers, as well as a mediator in resolving conflicts between them.
