President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law #138-IX on introducing the procedure of extension of authorities of a member of the National Council on TV broadcasting after termination of his/her authorities by the Verkhovna Rada and appointment of the members of the National Council to all vacant posts simultaneously as the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reported.

The amendments to the bill on the National Council reconsiders that after the end of five years terms, the authorities of a member of the National Council continues until the appointment of the new member of the council, excluding the early termination of the authorities of the member of this body.

Moreover, it is established that the parliament solves the issue of the appointment to the National Council to all vacant posts simultaneously. If the parliament fails to do it, the procedure of the appointment to the National Council will take place again.

The National Council will be equated to the state bodies of the first level defined by Ukraine’s Law “On state service”.

The specialist committee of Verkhovna Rada announces the beginning of the selection of the candidatures for the position of the member of the National Council on 90 days before the termination of the authorities of member/members of the council.

The law will come into force the next day after the official publication; however, some norms will take effect on January 1, 2020.

As we reported earlier, on September 26 the National council on questions of television and radio broadcasting deprived TV channel "112 Ukraine" of digital licenses for broadcasting. The channel continues to broadcast and is available to its viewers on satellite, cable and the Internet.
