President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the decree on the Remembrance Day, paying tribute for the fighters who were killed while protecting the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The Remembrance Day will be observed annually on August 29. The President stated that after his speech on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence.

"Dear Ukrainians, there are families of the dead soldiers and participants of volunteer formations here. The Remembrance Day decree dedicated to the defenders of Ukraine who died in fight for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine is signed by me today. The celebration of the day will take place on August 29 annually. Thank you. Glory to Ukraine!" Zelensky said.

On August 29, 2014, about 300 Ukrainian servicemen were killed during the withdrawal from the encircled Ilovaisk. That battle turned into a nation-wide tragedy.

As it was reported earlier, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky stated he loved Ukraine as he was born here. He said this during the Dignity March dedicated to the Independence Day in Ukraine broadcasted by 112 TV channel.
