President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky responded to the petition on the dismissal of Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov as it gained the necessary amount of votes as the presidential website reported.
Zelensky reminded that the dismissal of the Interior Minister of Ukraine, according to the Constitution of Ukraine, takes place on the basis of the submission of the prime minister.
“The analysis of the acting legislation shows that the dismissal from the post or dismissal from the posts of the officials by the president of Ukraine is possible when the officials are appointed by the president of Ukraine,” the president said.
On June 6, the electronic petition with a demand of the urgent resign of Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov gained 25,000 of votes, which are necessary to for its consideration.
The text of the petition does not explain why Avakov should resign. However, the reason is obvious; it is the murder of 5-year-old Kyrylo Tlyavov in Pereyaslov-Khmelnystky. Two local police officers suspected in this crime.
In his turn, Avakov stated that he is not going to resign due to the murder of a boy by the police officers. He added that only the Verkhovna Rada may consider his resignation.
