Press conference of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, May 20, 2021

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has reproached Germany due to the refusal to supply weapons to Ukraine. Zelensky stated in the interview to Frankfuter Allgemeine Zeitung that German Chancellor Angela Merkel did a lot for Ukraine but he expected that she would do more in the Normandy Format.

“We are really gratefully for what we have. However, I know that Germany can do more. Habeck (leader of Alliance '90/The Greens) understood me. He understood that the Normandy Stream 2 is only a weapon and it is very sharp. He also understands that Ukraine does not have a fleet. Our coasts are unprotected. We need lethal arms. Germany did not provide us any military aid but it could,” Zelensky said.
