President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky paid tribute to the liquidators of the Chernobyl accident. The website of the President’s Office reported that.

"On the Day of Honoring the participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky laid flowers to the memorial to the Chernobyl Warriors and the memorial mound" Heroes of Chernobyl," - the statement said.

The head of state and participants in the ceremony honored the memory of the dead liquidators with a minute of silence.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov and the Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk took part in the event, too.

In Ukraine, December 14 in is the Day of Honoring the participants in the aftermath of the Chernobyl accident.

The day is set in Ukraine according to the presidential decree of November 10, 2006 in memory of the completion of the construction of the sarcophagus over the fourth Chernobyl NPP's unit. It took place on December 14, 1986
