President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is outraged that the Verkhovna Rada refused to vote for the draft law on amendments to the electoral legislation as he reported on Facebook.
“The Verkhovna Rada failed to vote for the draft law on amendments to the electoral legislation. The old politicians chose the old system because it provides them with a chance to prolong the political life,” Zelensky wrote.
According to him, the reason for the parliament to reject the offer to vote for the draft law is the intention of the MPs to enter the Verkhovna Rada at the next elections by buying of votes.
“They count to fit through to the Verkhovna Rada for money and buckwheat. But I am sure that they are wrong,” Zelensky noted.
He expressed a thought that the citizens, even at the majoritarian district, are able to elect new politicians who may change the country.
Earlier, we reported that the Verkhovna Rada refused to include the draft law on the amendment of the electoral system on parliamentary elections in the agenda as well as the draft law on the procurement system during the elections.
On May 22, the Verkhovna Rada gathered for the extraordinary session to consider the draft law filed by President Volodymyr Zelensky. It was expected that the MPs would amend the system of the holding of the parliamentary elections, excluding the majoritarian component and reducing vote threshold up to 3%. Moreover, it was planned to consider the draft law on amendments to the procurement system during the elections.
