President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky offered the candidature of Arsen Avakov for the post of Ukraine’s Interior Minister during the session of the Servant of the People faction as Interfax-Ukraine reported citing MP from the Servant of the People Roksolana Pidlasa.
“Concerning Interior Minister, there is the offer from the president to vote for Avakov. I think that if it is the offer of the president, we will support it,” Pidlasa said.
On February 22, 2014, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Arsen Avakov as the acting Interior Minister of Ukraine and on February 27 as the Interior Minister in the government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk. In 2014, Avakov was running for MP at the snap elections.
On April 14, 2016, the parliament sent PM Arseniy Yatsenyuk into retirement and supported candidature of Volodymyr Groysman for his post. The same day the parliament approved the new membership of the government and Avakov saved hi post of the Interior Minister.
