Currently, the President’s Office has actively joined this process.
According to the message, Pfizer and Moderna companies have been waiting for some requests from the Ukrainian Health Ministry for eight months.
“Pfizer and Moderna have been waiting for eight months for some request from the Health Ministry. How it happened that some other less rich countries succeeded to agree with them; while we failed? This is the question,” the message said.
Meanwhile, profile deputy head of the President’s Office Yulia Sokolovska confirmed that the issue of the vaccine supply to Ukraine is dealt at different levels, including the President’s Office.
“Considering the relevance and heated situation in Ukraine and the world with the purchase and vaccination of the population and increase demand and attention to this issue, the president of Ukraine as the head of the state appeals to the leaders of the European states for an acceleration of the provision of quality, approved by Western partners vaccine,” she noted.
It is noted that the negotiations were held with the presidents of France, Lithuania and Portugal.
Earlier, Lekhim company concluded the contract with Chinese company Sinovac Biotech on the supply of five million doses of its vaccine to Ukraine.
However, the efficacy of the vaccine against coronavirus produced by the Chinese Sinovac Company has proved to be lower than it is mentioned in the purchase contract. The efficacy of the vaccine makes only 50.38%; while in the purchase contract concluded between the company and the Health Ministry, it is noted that the efficiency of the vaccine should make not less than 70%.
Health Minister Maksym Stepanov stated that Ukraine would refuse the supply of this vaccine if its efficacy remains less than 70% at the moment of supply. In such a case, the company should reimburse the funds allocated from the state budget.
