President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed a candidate for the office of Minister of Internal Affairs at a meeting of the Servants of the People faction. Zelensky nominated Denys Monastyrsky, the current head of the law enforcement committee of the Verkhovna Rada, for the position of Interior Minister. The lawmaker Oleksandr Kachura reported this on Telegram.
"The meeting of the faction has begun. The president and prime minister are present. President has nominated Denis Monastyrsky for the position of Interior Minister," Kachura wrote.
The MP added that the faction supported the proposal. Voting for the appointment of a new Interior Minister will take place on Friday.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine's Interior Minister Avakov resigned.
His resignation letter may be considered by the parliament this Thursday, July 15.
