As it was reported, Zelensky congratulates sailors on their return to Ukraine and thanked the relatives of the sailors for support.
“They are also heroes, just like you. They did everything to return you and we helped them,” the president told sailors.
Zelensky noted that campaign on returning Ukrainian prisoners was very difficult. According to him, many government authorities were involved in the process and they worked together as a team.
The president added that the issue of provision of housing for freed sailors has already been solved in Odesa.
As it was reported earlier, on September 7, the prisoners’ exchange took place between Kyiv and Moscow in 35 for 35 format.
24 Ukrainian sailors and 11 political prisoners - already ex-political prisoners - captured by Russia over the past five years, returned to Ukraine. Faces of the released Ukrainian sailors, left activist Oleksandr Kolchenko, filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, journalist Roman Sushchenko, Crimean Tatar Edem Bekirov and the rest of former captives were seen in the crowd.
