The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with the President of the European Council Charles Michel. The leaders discussed the escalation in Donbas and the Crimean Platform initiative. This was reported by the press service of the President's Office.
The Office of the President said that the main attention during the conversation between Zelensky and Michel was paid to the aggravation of the situation in the Eastern Ukraine.
Zelensky informed the head of the European Council about the developments in Donbas.
"We appreciate the European Union's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. A decisive and adequate response from the international community is a guarantee of preventing further escalation and saving lives," the president said.
The parties also discussed the Crimean Platform initiative. In addition, the interlocutors agreed to agree in the near future to hold the 23rd Ukraine-EU summit, scheduled for the second half of the year.
Earlier it was reported that the European Union called on Russia to abandon steps that could lead to further escalation of the conflict in Donbas and accelerate the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
