Zelensky enacts decision to close border due to coronavirus

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to close the border due to the global coronavirus pandemic. This was reported in Decree No. 87/2020 on the website of the Office of the President.

“To enact the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of March 13, 2020 "On urgent measures to ensure national security in the context of an outbreak of Covid-19 acute respiratory  disease caused by SARS-CoV 2 coronavirus," the decree of the president says.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to prohibit the crossing of Ukrainian borders from March 17 to April 3.

In addition, Ukraine will close the border for aviation, railway and bus services for two weeks.

center of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).

"On March 17, 2020, from 00:00 and over the next two weeks, the border crossing points of Ukraine will be closed for aviation, rail and bus traffic. For citizens of Ukraine traveling by their own transport, the border crossing points are open," the message said.

The National Security and Defense Council addresses all citizens of Ukraine with a request to return before March 17, 2020. In case of emergency, delivery of Ukrainian citizens by special flights will be arranged.

We recall, March 13, President Zelensky said that Ukraine closes regular flights with other countries in three days.
