President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met President of the Council of Europe Charles Michel during the working visit to Georgia. The leaders discussed the preparation for the Ukraine – EU summit planned for October 2021 as the President’s Office reported.
Zelensky thanked Michel for support in holding the first meeting at the EU + Associated Trio meeting (Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova) format at the highest level and readiness to counteract further approaching of the associated partners with the EU.
"It is very important that you were present at this meeting. Our peoples deserve a European perspective, given, in particular, that the number of obligations of our three states under the association agreements can be compared with the obligations of the current countries - candidates for EU membership," the President of Ukraine said.
Besides, the Ukrainian guarantor offered to consider the number of initiatives for the development of the practical cooperation between the states of the Associated Trio and the EU that would have benefit for citizens and business. Particularly, in the sphere of implementation of joint infrastructure projects, interaction in the transport sphere, energy, healthcare, security and defense, digital market, and trade.
As we reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with his American counterpart Joe Biden approximately in the last days of July or early August.
