Zelensky discuss Donbas situation with Merkel, Macron

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the escalation in Donbas with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel as Pershiy Nezalezhnyi reported.

Zelensky noted that President of Russia Vladimir Putin did not join the talk of three leaders.

“I intend for four of us to join the security issue of the situation in the east of Ukraine and de-occupation of our territories. Exactly such issues are solved at the meetings when the issue is being solved by four leaders,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zelensky said that the parties discussed the security situation in the east of Ukraine and the ceasefire regime.

“Unfortunately, I would be honest, about from the mid of December 2020, to be more precise, since the beginning of January, we have observed the complication of the situation at the contact line between us and temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. At the contact line, we have seen an increase in attacks. I informed Mr. Macron and Mrs. Merkel about these cases,” Zelensky added.

Earlier, it was reported that talks between Zelensky and Macron are planned for April 16. Besides, German Chancellor Angela Merkel will participate in them. The sides will discuss the escalation in Donbas.
