President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting with representatives of participating companies in the fuel market, oil and gas industry and gas station networks discussed the issue of lowering fuel prices at Ukrainian gas stations and detailing the market. The President’s press service reports.
"We are asking you to react more actively to the appreciation of the exchange rate and, accordingly, reduce the price of gasoline. Do not give a discount, but (reduce the price). On the board," - Zelensky said.
According to the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Serhiy Mykolaychuk, recently the price of gasoline and diesel fuel began to decline. At the same time, there is a tendency to strengthen the hryvnia exchange rate, so the fuel will continue to become cheaper. At the same time, gas stations should significantly reduce fuel prices, but instead they increase payments for bonus programs.
Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Julia Kuznetsova, stressed that the real price of fuel is very different from the price that companies set in accordance with loyalty programs.
“This situation is unusual for most European markets - when there are so large loyalty programs. We offer the price at which you actually sell gasoline, shift to a stele (electronic scoreboard - IF) and optimize loyalty programs, thereby increasing competition in the market,” - Kuznetsova emphasized.
Representatives of the companies participating in the fuel market, for their part, noted the problem of illegal gas stations. According to them, almost 25% of gas stations operate outside the law. There are also illegal oil refineries.
