President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky got emotional and shed a tear during the parade dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine in Kyiv. The military parade is being broadcast by Pershiy Nezalezhniy TV channel.
It happened at the end of the very touching performance Code of the Nation, when a little girl "walked" with flowers along the paths of Ukrainian history and, passing an invisible wall between video and reality, rushed down Khreshchatyk to the ATO veteran.
August 24 is a national holiday of independence in Ukraine. On this day, in 1991, the country declared its independence from the USSR.
Meanwhile, EU Ambassador Matti Maasikas has congratulated Ukraine on the 30th anniversary of independence in Ukrainian.
"I come from Estonia, and I understand well the true meaning of independence, liberation from the imperial net. This means that the people leave the negative experience behind, restore their identity and the right to decide their fate. According to Taras Shevchenko, "there is truth, strength and will in your house." The Ukrainian people know better what is best for them," Matti Maasikas noted.
