The meeting was dedicated to the discussion of the priority measures for strengthening of the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the U.S., particularly, the preparation for the bilateral negotiations at the level of the heads of the states.
The sides discussed the possibilities of deepening of the Ukrainian-American cooperation in the spheres of security and defense, energy security, as well as in reforming the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian defense industry.
Zelensky thanked the American side for strong support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, consistent official policy on Crimea and efforts aimed at reaching progress in the peaceful settlement in Donbas.
Zelensky also expressed the hope that the U.S. will be able to join the negotiations on Donbas. He noted that Ukraine would welcome the joining of the U.S. to the Normandy Format.
The Ukrainian president underlined the importance of the consolidated position of the U.S. and other partners of Ukraine for provision of the release of Ukrainian sailors and other illegally detained citizens.
John Bolton arrived in Ukraine on August 27. He stated that he will try to convince the Ukrainian authority in the danger of cooperation with Chinese.
