The program of the visit includes participation in commemorative events on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Auschwitz and a meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda.

During the Second World War, in the Polish city of Auschwitz, German troops created the first Auschwitz concentration camp. In it, the Nazis killed 1.4 million people, about 1.1 million of whom were Jews. Now on the site of the death camp is a museum.

The camp’s liberation day is set by the UN as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
