President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed law #1078-IX on the extension of the action of the law on the special order of the local self-governance in particular areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
The action of the previous law expires on December 31, 2020.
Earlier, Deputy Head of Servant of the People party Yevheniya Kravchuk mentioned such information and underlined that nothing is changed in the law, excluding the date. It should be adopted to enable the partakers of talks to continue peace talks and peace process.
As we reported earlier, the bill on the special status for the occupied territories was first adopted for a period of three years back in September 2014, following the signing of the Minsk Protocol between Ukraine and Russia under the auspices of OSCE that supposedly intended to resolve the conflict in Donbas.
In autumn 2017, the Verkhovna Rada extended the bill for a year. Later, the bill was extended for a year twice, until December 31, 2020.
