The other order of Zelensky preliminary dismissed Balan from the position of the Deputy Commander of the National Guard.
After the dismissal of Yury Allerov, Mykola Balan served as the Acting Commander of the National Guard.
Balan was born on December 12, 1968, in Ivano-Frankivk region. He graduated from the Saratov Senior Military Command School.
In 2003, he graduated from National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine with distinction. He was Head of Crimean Department of Internal forces of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine up to 2010.
On April 18, 2014, he was appointed as Deputy Head of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Kondratyuk appointed as First Deputy Head of the National Guard, Ruslan Dziuba and Yury Lebed are Deputy Commanders.
Besides, Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Oleg Kulik from the post of the Deputy Head of the Commander.
Earlier, Yuriy Allerov was detained by the detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. He is accused of the case tied with the embezzlement of $5 million during the construction of the houses for the Ukrainian military. On May 14, Allerov and another two detainees, the representatives of Ukrbud, were notified about suspicion.
According to the investigation, Allerov’s daughter has dual citizenship – Ukrainian and Russian and she mostly lives in Moscow.
“According to the investigation, the daughter of Allerov has residence and family in Moscow. Besides, Allerov’s wife visited Moscow repeatedly,” the SAPO prosecutor noted.
On May 7, Allerov was dismissed from the position of the Commander of the National Guard by the order of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. Mykola Balan was appointed as acting commander.
On May 21, Allerov was released from the detention after provision of the bail.
Yury Allerov has been heading the National Guard since December 30, 2015, until May 7, 2019.
