President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Oleksiy Danilov as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), having previously dismissed him from the office of NSDC Deputy Secretary. The respective decrees were published on the official website of the president.
“Appoint Oleksiy Danilov as the Secretary of National Security and Defense Council," reads the presidential decree of October 3, 2019.
In 2005, Danilov headed the Luhansk Regional State Administration. He was also a Ukrainian parliamentarian of the 5th convocation (from May 2006 to November 2007).
Since December 2007, he has been working as a Deputy Director of the Institute for European Integration and Development.
As it was reported earlier, Zelensky dismissed Oleksandr Danyluyk from the post of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
On September 27, it was reported that Oleksandr Danyluyk wrote a letter of resignation. He prepared the proper letter addressed to the president before the beginning of the working visit of Volodymyr Zelensky to the U.S. for participation in 74th UN General Assembly. The Office of the President noted that Zelensky will consider the letter after return to Kyiv from America.
