President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with Prime Minister of Great Britain Boris Johnson. This was reported by the President’s press service.
Zelensky congratulated the Leader of the Conservative Party with the recent victory in the elections.
He also thanked the British government for having the stable position relating to the support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine as well as for help to Ukraine in the implementation of reforms and strengthening of the defense capacity.
The conversation also concerned further development of Ukraine-UK bilateral relations, particularly after British exit from the EU. The necessity of contact intensification on the highest level was also discussed.
As it was reported earlier, Boris Johnson, the former London mayor and the ex-Foreign Secretary, was elected the new British Prime Minister. Over 160,000 members of the Conservative Party joined the voting procedure; Johnson was definitely considered the favorite since the beginning of the campaign, standing against Jeremy Hunt, the incumbent Foreign Secretary.
