"A decision was made to elect and appoint Yuriy Vitrenko the Chairman of the Board of the National Joint-Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine from April 29, 2021," the statement said.
This decision was made after Andriy Kobolev, independent members of Naftogaz's Supervisory Board and state representatives to the Supervisory Board were dismissed after the general meeting of Shareholders of Naftogaz Ukraine, which the government held today.
It should be noted that Naftogaz's Statute stipulates that the Chairman of the Board is appointed and dismissed by General Meeting in accordance with the Supervisory Board's proposals which have to be submitted based on decisions of the Supervisory Board on the appointment and dismissal of the Chairman of the Board. The Supervisory Board of Naftogaz did not give personnel recommendations.
Yuriy Vitrenko used to be the executive director of Naftogaz, and from December 22 until recently he was an acting Minister of Energy of Ukraine. Instead of him, Deputy Minister Yuriy Boyko was temporarily appointed to a position in the ministry.
