The defense of a former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych in the state treason case has accused Ukraine's Permanent Representative to UN in 2014 Yury Serheev of the disinformation of the world community about the events in Ukraine. Vitaly Serdyuk, Yanukovych's advocate claimed this as Aver Lex reported.

According to the lawyer, on February 24, 2014, Serheev sent the letter addressed to the Chairman of UN Security Council that accompanied the statement of acting president Oleksandr Tyrchynov and asked to read out this document during the planned briefing of OSCE Chairman at the Security Council. The letter provided the information about the self-withdrawal of Yanukovych from the post of the president.

The defense also claims that Yanukovych did not leave the county and did not withdraw himself.

Moreover, according to the lawyer, it was established during the questioning of the witnesses that Oleksandr Turchynov, Arseny Yatsenyuk, and Arsen Avakov knew about the location of the president and that he did not leave the country until February 24, 2014.

'Viktor Yanukovych emphasized in his video-appeal that he continues the work and waits for the response of the international community on the implementation of the Agreement on the settlement of the crisis in Ukraine that was guaranteed by foreign ministers of Poland, France, and Germany.  Due to this, on February 22, the president sent the appeals to the countries-guarantors from Donetsk and he demanded them to influence the opposition and support in the restoration of the constitutional order in Ukraine', the defense claimed.

Serdyuk has noted that Yury Serheev conspired with the opposition and 'deliberately committed a forgery'. He did not agree with the statements with then Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara.

'For the deliberate falsification made in collusion of the group of persons led to the catastrophic consequences for Ukraine – anti-constitutional change of the power, lost of the part of the territory, perpetrators the should hold the criminal responsibility. We initiate the bringing to the responsibility of former Ukraine's Permanent Representative to UN Yury Serheev as co-perpetrator for the deliberate forgery and partaking in the coup d'état.
