The World Bank Human Development Director for Europe and Central Asia Region Fadia Saadah stated the readiness to allocate to Ukraine extra financing for the fight against coronavirus pandemic as Health Minister Viktor Lyashko reported on Facebook.
“Within the working visit to the United States, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a productive meeting with Fadia Saadah, the World Bank Human Development Director for Europe and Central Asia Region. They discussed the current state of the implementation by the ministry of three World Bank projects with the total sum of loan $439.7 million. He received the assurances about the possibility of extra financing in the sum of up to $150 million, in case of the necessity, for extra response to Covid-19 and vaccination in Ukraine,” Lyashko noted.
According to him, the key element of the cooperation between the Health Ministry of Ukraine and the World Bank is the increase of tempo of vaccination against the coronavirus.
As we reported, the United States intends to provide cold chain support to Ukraine for Covid-19 vaccines storage, as reported in a joint US-Ukraine statement on strategic partnership.
During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, US President Joe Biden assured that his country will continue to help Ukraine in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
