In Zhytomyr region, northern Ukraine, a citizen of Bilka village was hospitalized with the suspicion of anthrax as the press service of State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Zhytomyr region reported.
“On October 4, 2018, an urgent message was received on the hospitalization of the citizens of Bilka village, Korosten area with the suspicion of anthrax (skin form) to the infectious disease section of Korosten Central Hospital. The date of the disease is October 1, 2018, the date of the appeal is October 4, 2018. According to the ill woman, only husband lives with her,” the message said.
The medical team is formed for the holding of the investigation in the case of the disease.
“To establish the diagnosis, the biomaterial of the ill, samples of soil and water were selected during the investigation for the lab research. The investigation continues,” the message said.
Earlier we reported that a spell of anthrax is observed in a village in Saratsky district, Odesa region, southern Ukraine. According to preliminary data, the source of the disease is a domestic cow, who was slaughtered for meat. Five people who skinned her suffered the symptoms and were taken to hospitals; they are under the supervision of doctors. Their lives are beyond danger.
Recently, a three-year-old boy died due to measles in Lviv regional infectious hospital. The boy lived in Zhovkivsky district, Lviv region and was hospitalized two weeks ago. The disease caused the complication in the form of the inflammation in the brain (encephalitis). The doctors could not save the child.
