Deposits are the best indicator of confidence in the banking sector. I would like to demonstrate to you how this trust has fallen.

I took the data from the official statistics of the National Bank (NBU):

2008 year

Total deposits - 359 billion UAH (71.8 billion dollars)

The business - 142 billion UAH ($ 28.4 billion)

Individuals - 215 billion UAH (43 billion dollars)

Deposits on demand - 107.5 billion (30%)

Deposits up to 1 year - 93 billion (26%)

Deposits from 1 to 2 - 122 billion (34%)

Deposits for more than 2 years - 37 billion (10%).

2013 year

Total deposits - 670 billion UAH (83.7 billion dollars)

Business - 205 billion UAH ($ 29 billion)

Individuals - UAH 435 billion ($ 54 billion)

Deposits on demand - 205 billion (30%)

Deposits up to 1 year - 189 billion (28%)

Deposits from 1 to 2 - 249 billion (37%)

Deposits for more than 2 years - 26 billion (4%).

2020 year

Total deposits - 1164 billion UAH (43 billion dollars)

The business holds 529 billion UAH (19.5 billion dollars)

Individuals - UAH 611 billion ($ 22.6 billion)

Deposits on demand - 648 billion (56%)

Deposits up to 1 year - 376 billion (32%)

Deposits from 1 to 2 - 120 billion (10%)

Deposits for more than 2 years - 19 billion (1.5%)

What does this statistic mean?

In 2020, the level of deposits is almost half that in 2008 and 2013.

Also in 2020, the share of deposits on demand significantly increased. This suggests that the population does not risk trusting their funds to our banks for a long time, and if something happens, they will be able to quickly withdraw funds.

These statistics mean that there is no confidence in the banking system.
