October 3, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Oleksiy Danilov as the new secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).
Oleksiy Danilov was born on September 7, 1962, in Krasny Luch, Luhansk region.
In 1981, he graduated from the Starobilsk Technical College (Veterinarian department), in 1999 he received a diploma from the Luhansk Pedagogical University (World History Teacher). Later, Danilov graduated from the East Ukrainian National University named after Volodymyr Dahl with a degree in management, as well as from the Luhansk Institute of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Danilov is married, he has four children and two granddaughters.
Danilov began his professional career as a veterinarian-assistant at the Voroshylovgrad fruit and mineral water plant. After serving in the army, he worked at a local zoo.
In 1994 - 1997, Danilov served as mayor of Lugansk. He was 31 years old at the time of his appointment.
In 1999-2002, he worked as a senior lecturer in the Department of Management of the East Ukrainian National University. In 2000, Danilov was appointed an adviser to the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on industrial policy and entrepreneurship.
In 2002-2005, he served as a Deputy Director of the Institute for European Integration and Development.
In 2005, Danilov served as chairman of the Luhansk Regional State Administration.
In 2004, he headed Lugansk regional headquarters of presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko.
In 2006 - 2007 he was an MP from the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc. At the time of the election, he was deputy director of the European Institute for Integration and Development and a member of the Committee on State Building, Regional Policy, and Local Government.
On July 23, 2019, President Zelensky appointed Danilov Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
After Zelensky came to power, Danilov was wooed into the head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration. Zelensky’s business partner Maksym Tkachenko is called a link between him and the president.
Tkachenko is from Luhansk, he leads the Ze-team in this region, before 2014, he has been developing a concert agency in the Luhansk region and was familiar with all representatives of local elites. Now Tkachenko has passed to Rada under No. 25 of the Servant of the People list.
According to the income statement for 2018, Danilov owns an apartment in Kyiv and a residential building in the Kyiv region. The new NSDC secretary has a 2012 Lexus RX 350. Over the past year, the Danilov family earned 1,257 million UAH (50,000 USD). Danilov holds a little more than 7 thousand UAH (280 USD) in bank accounts, and stores 47,500 dollars in cash and about 118,000 UAH (4,700 USD).
