White House tells details of Trump, Poroshenko meeting

The countries’ leaders discussed ways to achieve a truce in eastern Ukraine

White House reported on the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

"President Trump welcomed Ukrainian reforms that contributed to economic growth in the country and defense capabilities, and also urged President Poroshenko to continue work to eliminate corruption and improve the country's business climate," the presidential administration said in a statement.

Trump also confirmed his support for Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity. In addition, the leaders of the countries discussed ways to achieve a truce in eastern Ukraine.

Earilerit was reported that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, at a meeting with his American counterpart Donald Trump, said he hoped for US support, including in the issue of the introduction of UN peacekeepers in Donbas.

Poroshenko thanked Trump for the meeting, noting the importance of US support in the "difficult time for Ukraine."

"We are grateful for the meeting, we expect that we will receive support from the US at such a difficult time for Ukraine, we hope for support regarding the peacekeeping mission and economic reforms," the head of state said.
