Ukraine along with Germany and France “forced” Russia to sign the statement of “Easter ceasefire” in Donbas on March 30. Petro Poroshenko, Ukraine’s President, said it at the meeting with Volnovakha residents on April 1, broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.

“Our general goal is to restore Volnovakha and set a peace. This is why we by conducting the negotiations with Angela Merkel, the Chancellor of Germany, and Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, we addressed Putin (Russian President, - ed.) and “forced” him to sign a statement on ceasefire, which is to start on March 30,” he said.

According to Poroshenko, Ukraine needs this ceasefire as it needs “air”, as it is a condition of the introduction of a peace support mission in Donbas.
