Viktor Medvedchuk, the Chairman of Political Council of Opposition Platform - For Life and the founder of the party Yuriy Boyko met with Gazprom company CEO Alexey Miller in Saint Petersburg, where they discussed gas prices in Ukraine. According to Medvedchuk, President of Ukraine Zelensky should do everything possible in order to conclude an agreement on the direct gas supply from the Russian Federation.
“And you know that the agreement on what might happen, and the authorities of Ukraine if they had agreed to this, could have signed an agreement on the direct supply of Russian gas even on March and lower the price by 25% from the purchase price. This, of course, would also result in lower cost of housing and communal services. However, you know that the former authorities did not react to this, and the new authorities have not proceeded to this yet,” Medvedchuk said.
“Therefore, our present arrival is a demand to the current authorities, Mr. Zelensky and his team, not just to pay attention but to do everything possible to ensure that agreements for the direct supply of Russian gas were concluded. The gas is much cheaper, taking into account the discount, as Alexey Miller said today, and which was discussed with the head of the government and the president of the Russian Federation. There will be a reduction in the price of the cost of housing and communal services because of this. And today we have continued negotiations on the issue of transit and the creation of a gas transportation consortium. Here are the main tasks that have been discussing today,” Medvedchuk added.
It should be noted that Gazprom head Alexey Miller stated at the meeting with Viktor Medvedchuk, the Chairman of Political Council of Opposition Platform - For Life and the founder of the party, Yuriy Boyko in Saint Petersburg that concluding an agreement on direct gas supply will lower the gas price by 25%.
