Volker noted that American lethal weapons could stop Russia from new attacks.
“If they are not able to hold the line, that's just an invitation for further advancements. And what this does is tells the Russians very clearly: "You're not gonna get any more without it being very costly to you,” US Special Envoy Kurt Volker said.
“There's no way Ukrainians can take the territory back that's already been taken by the Russians. Russia is just too powerful. But the cost to Russia of further advancements is already increased and will continue to increase. And if that's the case, then you have to ask yourself if you're sitting in Moscow: "What are we getting out of this? We're getting Russian casualties, soldiers being killed fighting in Ukraine. For what?” the diplomat said.
As it was reported earlier, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Hrytsak has met with the US State Department's Special Envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker and US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch. During the meeting, Hrytsak gave Volker the evidence of the involvement of Russian Federation military personnel in a large-scale hybrid aggression in Donbas.
