US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker in his meeting with Ukrainian parliamentarians said that based on the results of his trip to Donbas, the western allies will determine the following steps for peaceful resolution of the conflict, as the Verkhovna Rada press service informs.
According to the press service, during the meeting Volker noted that the situation in Donbas is not a frozen conflict, as it is perceived in the West, but is in “hot phase”.
“He also informed that based on the results of his trip to Donbas, the western allies will determine the following steps for peaceful resolution of the conflict,” the message says.
Volker also emphasized the necessity to support people living in the temporarily occupied zone, so that they know Ukraine cares about them.
In her turn, Head of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee Hanna Hopko emphasized the urgency to increase sanctions against Russia and preserving the unity of the US and the EU on this issue. She says that since force is the only policy Russia understands, Ukraine and its western allies, apart from sanctions, must possess other means of pressure and effective instruments.
As it was reported earlier, Kurt Volker visited Donbas conflict zone.
