Kyiv city head plunged into the water in Natalka Park. The heads of the capital’s districts, deputy heads of the Kyiv city administration and some deputies of the local council dived into the ice-hole together with him.
As it was reported earlier Orthodox and Ukrainian Greek Catholic Christians are celebrating the Baptism of Jesus today, Jan. 19. According to legends, this is the day when Jesus Christ turned 30 years old and was baptised in the Jordan river by John the Baptist. After this, there came the voice of God from Heaven, who named Jesus his son and the Holy Spirit came down on him in the form of a pigeon.
Vitali Klitschko, former heavyweight champion of the world, became the first Ukrainian member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame. The jury elected him and another two fighters – Erik Morales and Ronald Wright – out of 32 candidates to be included in the Hall (in the Modern Boxers category).
As a boxer, Klitschko, Sr. is a three-time world heavyweight champion, the second longest reigning WBC heavyweight champion of all time, has the third longest combined world championship reign in history and the 5th longest combined title streak in modern boxing history at 15 title bouts. He held the WBO title from 1999 to 2000; the Ring magazine title from 2004 to 2005; and the WBC title twice, from 2004 to 2005 and from 2008 to 2013.
