The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed Viktor Lyashko as the Health Minister. 262 MPs supported his candidature.
“In accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine, on the offer of Servant of the People political faction, I provide the submission on the appointment of Viktor Lyashko as the Health Minister of Ukraine,” Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said.
Earlier, Lyashko was Deputy Health Minister, Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine, depute director-general of the Public Health Organization, expert of the Intense care set of reforms, chair of Infectious control in Ukraine, head of Kyiv regional laboratory center of Sanitary & Epidemiological Station.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Maksym Stepanov from the position of Minister of Healthcare upon his own request. 284 MPs voted for the decision.
Zelensky’s team said this dismissal took place due to the problems with contracts on the supply of vaccines against coronavirus and careful attention to the minister from the side of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU).
