The video and photo recording of the drivers exceeding the new 50 km/h speed limit in cities won’t be introduced on Jan. 1, Artem Shevchenko, head of communications department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, told 112.

“The police is getting ready to start tracking these violations. At the moment they aren’t doing it due to the lack of certain equipment, but they are actively preparing to start. Video and photo recording of the violations won’t start on Jan. 1,” he said.

“Our forecast is that it will start in the first quarter of the next year, and the pessimistic forecast is the middle of the year or the second half,” Shevchenko specified.

Previously we reported that starting Jan.1, the speed limit in Ukrainian cities will be 50 km/h.
