Today, Ukraine celebrates Victory Day over Nazism in World War II. This holiday was established in 2016 and replaced Soviet Victory Day.
Today, many people all over the country come to the memorials and monuments to lay flowers and pay tribute to the deceased. In terms of quarantine, mass events are banned. However, it does not hamper people to honor the memory of people who gained victory over Nazi Germany in 1941-1945.

Initially, Victory Day is the celebration of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. It was a public holiday since 1965.
There is always a question why Victory Day is celebrated on May 9, while Europe holds events dedicated to World War II on May 8.
On May 7, the German Instrument of Surrender was signed in Reims and it came into force on May 8 at 23:01 (May 9, 00:00 at Moscow time).
