The Verkhovna Rada supported in the first reading the bill № 5526, which intends to create a separate sport for war veterans. 226 parliamentarians voted for the initiative. 

“The bill provides for the creation of a separate sport at the legislative level, a sport to involve war veterans and their families, help them participate in international and other sporting events, psychological and social adaptation through sports, training of national teams of Ukraine from among war veterans and international sports competitions," the explanatory note reads.

The development of sports for war veterans is provided by the government that ensures the formation of state policy in the area of physical culture and sports. Also by the central executive body that implements state policy in the field of physical culture and sports, and the central executive bodies that ensure the formation and implementation state policy in the field of social protection of war veterans, persons who have special merits before the Motherland, victims of the Revolution of Dignity, family members of war veterans and persons covered by the Law of Ukraine "On the status of war veterans, guarantees of their social protection", subjects of the physical culture and sports area.
