"We received a proposal from the factions to pay tribute to the memory of Diana Petrynenko today, on November 20. Diana Petrynenko was a famous Ukrainian singer who has invested much in the development of Ukrainian opera, and I ask everyone to honor the memory of a great Ukrainian singer by a moment of silence," the Speaker of the Parliament Andriy Parubiy said.
The repertoire of the singer included not only opera arias, but also romances, Ukrainian and Russian folk songs. She successfully toured in many countries around the world, including the USA, Canada, France, Italy. The Netherlands, Japan, Finland.
In 1972 she became the laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine named after Taras Shevchenko, and in 1999 she received the title of People's Artist of Ukraine.
As it was reported earlier, the song and clip of the Ukrainian band KAZKA “Plakala” ("cried" in English, - ed.) got 100 million views on YouTube. The audio version of the song was revealed on May 17, 2018, and got 69 million views and in late September, the band issued a clip for the song, dedicated to the ability of the Ukrainian women to revive through bitter tears.
