Verkhovna Rada approves lifting of parliamentary immunity, detention, arrest of Bakulin

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the bearing to the responsibility, detention and arrest of Yevhen Bakulin, the MP from the Opposition Block as 112 Ukraine broadcasted.

274 MPs supported the decision to bear Bakulin to the responsibility; 252 MPs supported the detention and 240 parliamentarians agreed for the arrest of Bakulin.

As it was reported earlier, on Feb. 2, 2018, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko informed that he would address the Parliament asking for lifting Bakulin’s immunity. He noted that Bakulin is an incumbent MP but hasn’t been in Ukraine for a while. The specialized committee of the parliament approved the bearing to the responsibility, detention and arrest of the MP.

Bakulin is suspected in the embezzlement of Naftogaz-Ukraine funds through the malpractice; composing and issuance of the knowingly false official documents, financial operations with the funds gotten in the result of the violations preceded by the money laundering.
