USAID allocates extra $1 million to Ukraine to fight Covid-19

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has allocated extra $1 million to Ukraine for expenses tied with Covid-19 pandemic as the U.S. Embassy to Ukraine reported.

“Through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has committed an additional $1 million to support Ukraine’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” the message said.

Besides, the aid will be provided through one of the Ukrainian non-governmental organizations. It will be spent for the purchase of goods necessary to fight against the virus, for example, medical equipment.

It is noted that the U.S. government plans to allocate $15.5 million to Ukraine for the fight against the coronavirus and its consequences. Totally, the U.S. has allocated $900 million to over 120 countries.

Besides, the Council of the European Union made the decision to provide Ukraine with 1.2 billion Euros for overcoming the economic and social consequences of coronavirus.
