USA spent $600 million to train Ukrainian soldiers since 2014

The United States spent 600 million dollars to train Ukrainian soldiers since 2014, including provision of technical and financial help, reports Government Portal.

 “American has provided financial and technical assistance and spent more than $600 million to train Ukrainian Armed Forces since early 2014. Within the framework of the joint multinational group, 7 battalions of Ukrainian army were trained, and now another battalion is being trained. In total, nearly 4,000 servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and 104 instructors trained with American specialists with the help of International Peacekeeping and Security Centre since 2015,” the message says.

In particular, the funds received are spent on the development of professional sergeant corps, logistics and medical support systems, as well as on the prospects of the multinational joint coordinating committee on military cooperation and defense reform.

Armed Forces Commander in Chief Viktor Muzhenko noted that consultative help provided by the US advisers essentially reinforces Ukraine’s Army.

As it was reported earlier 28 units of Ukrainian army were trained under NATO standards, according to Ukraine's Defense Ministry. Twenty joint exercises with foreign instructors have taken place at Ukrainian training grounds since early 2017.
