The United States has imposed sanctions on former Constitutional Court Chairman Oleksandr Tupytsky. This was reported on December 9 on the website of the US State Department.

Oleksandr Tupytsky's wife was also sanctioned.

"Oleksandr Tupytskyi, the former Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, for significant corrupt acts to include the acceptance of a monetary bribe while serving in the Ukrainian judiciary.  Tupytskyi’s spouse, Olga Tupytska, was also designated as part of this action, the message says.

The sanctions include a ban on entry to the United States and the blocking of financial assets in American banks.

Sanctions on suspicion of corruption have also been imposed on former officials and businessmen from Angola, Liberia, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Colombia.

On December 9, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions against Andriy Portnov and his fund under the Magnitsky Global Act. Magnitsky's act provides for the denial of visas, as well as financial sanctions.
