US Senate approves defense budget allocating $350 million for Ukraine’s defense

The Congress finalized the procedure of passing the new defense budget for 2018, now the President of the United States is to sign it

The US Senate passed the defense budget 2018, which foresees allocating $350 million for aiding Ukraine in its security, as the Embassy of Ukraine to the USA informed on Facebook

According to the Ukrainian Embassy, the budget authorizes giving Ukraine lethal arms of defensive nature and considerably broadens the parameters of the US support to Ukraine in security and defense spheres.

The document includes provisions that allow using the money of the US defense budget for covering the costs of medical treatment of wounded Ukrainian soldiers in the US, training Ukrainian medics in this sphere, and enhancing the capacity of Ukraine’s Air and Navy Forces.

It also allows for providing Ukraine with means of radar air defense and above-water surveillance, navy anti-mine means, and coastal defense ships. 

Previously the budget was signed by the US House of Representatives.
